“A bad day camping is still better than a good day working.”

So the Lens Artist photo challenge this week from Tina is COLD. This is timely! I can tell you I spent last night in a crazy, cold tent right outside Moab, Utah. Temps were about 20 (ish degrees Farenheit). When we woke up this morning, the desert, and our tent was laced with frost….how did we manage to stay warm?
-30 degree sleeping bag
Toe warmers in wool socks
A fleece hat, pants and top
A sweet dog to further warm our feet
2 extra Rumpl blankets for said dog
4 season tent
Thick sleeping pad with a wool blanket to insulate the cold ground
Good fire
ALOT of cuddling

Little different view when we woke up this morning!
Yikes Pam! But sounds like you were well-prepared. Loved the quote – agree wholeheartedly

I get teased for the amount of gear I have until it comes in handy ;-). Happy Thanksgiving Tina!

I love Moab, but don’t think I could tent camp in those temps! What beautiful scenery and you look pretty happy peeking out of your tent into the frosty morning.

Truth be told we only did it for one night, but it was sooo much fun! The stars were incredible at night. we are having such a blast.

I couldn’t agree more. Though our “camping” was done via a 10m motorhome 🙂

That sounds lovely too. We talk about camper vans all the time…as soon as we talk about the cost to store it, we get less excited about owning one. Some day maybe!

I have to admit they can be expensive. A tent is definitely a way to enjoy natire without financial hassles.

Perfect timing, Pam! I like how well prepared you were for the cold! My husband has camped in the winter. (Not me!) I admire you!

Ha ha! I don’t know that I want to do this all the time, BUT, we found a great campsite we loved. And yes, I have a ton of gear – glad to know it gets put to use sometimes. The stars at night also made it all worth it. 🙂

You know I love this! I despise the cold, but there’s something about a cozy tent with lots of down jackets and blankets and pillows and a warm dog and … well, OK … maybe a warm partner, too! So fun.

You woulda loved it. It snowed 3 or 4 inches last night (we were in an airbnb), but we are headed out to hike to Delicate Arch! Hope to get some good snaps!

Cool pictures! I never camped anywhere besides my basement which was slightly warmer. Glad you seemed to have thawed out!

Your basement sounds like a dream! I am not sure one could even sleep in mine – I shudder at the thought!

You know, I have always wanted to go to Antarctica…then I looked at what it would take to get there….thinking, it may not make the bucket list!

Yeah. Pricey even for ‘windjammer’ eco cruises.

Great …. I can feel the chill … all the way. I’m not a camper person, this can be one of the reasons. Anyhow you got a great galley out of it.

We don’t normally camp when it’s this cold, but we had a BLAST 🙂

Yes, I could see in your latest post that the chill didn’t stop you and that you got a great adventure. We have got a lot of snow today in the middle of Sweden … massive traffic problems, Down here we got snow too, but nothing that lasted, the ground was too wet from the earlier rain. I love snow …

We have a TON here in Colorado! I wish I could post a pic of our backyard. It’s supposed to snow more tonight. I have a love/hate relationship with snow!
