It’s been wayyy too long! I miss my blog friends so much – luckily many of you are friends on Instagram. Social media is both a blessing and a curse, I suppose. This past year has been a whirlwind of fun and adventure. Our first year in Oregon has exceeded all expectations – it’s been life-changing and oh so fulfilling. Everything is firing on all cylinders.
Our first full summer here was jam-packed with so many adventures. Some day I’ll post details of a few outings so they may be re-created and enjoyed by others, but for now, thought I’d keep it simple and do a photo dump of all the things we crammed into what felt like a week of summer (it flew by).
The list is pretty endless: white water rafting, backpacking, camping, river activities, hiking, the Oregon Coast, so many concerts (The Lumineers, Nathaniel Rateliff, Dave Mathews, Beck, and James Taylor topped the list), Washington State, Colorado, Moab, a cozy cabin on the river, golfing, friends came to visit, farm-to-table dinners, SUP’d on mountain lakes, mountain biked beautiful trails, celebrated multiple birthdays, enjoyed our pups, played 1,000’s of games of rummy cube, learned to play Mahjong, took a work trip to Chicago, golfed and enjoyed family in California, ate and drank our way through Portland, met a bunch of life-long friends, found money on my birthday (thanks dad), chased waterfalls, and even did a little bit of crafting (that was the biggest stretch on the list – haha).
Phew! I’m exhausted, yet cannot wait to do it all over again next year. Still so much to discover in this sweet state I now call home.
As Bryan Adams put it:
“Oh, when I look back now
That summer seemed to last forever
And if I had the choice
Yeah, I’d always wanna be there
Those were the best days of my life”

I love my life, husband, puppies, friends, hometown, even my job.
Amen.
…i choose this…
PS: This post is mainly for myself – when I look at it later in life, I wanna remember all the good stuff about the summer of 2023.

Fabulous time away from blogging! Gorgeous pictures!
Great to hear from you again!

Thank you! I am SURE you all have been up to some good stuff. I have so many posts to do, but I’m overwhelmed by it all. Hence the photo dump. I may have to start small again and do some photo challenges to get back in the rhythm. I love this community so much.

Welcome back! Oh wow, you are getting the most out of life in the PNW! Beautiful photos; I love Ponzi wines, BTW. This post makes me homesick, I love living in France, but the PNW will always be home.

aww, thanks babes! I agree with your philosophy on our blogs. Sometimes I go back and re-read them and remember things forgotten. I’ve been doing a LOT of hiking around the PCT this summer. Hopefully, thats still on your list to do! Miss you!

I don’t think I’ll ever be fit enough to fulfill that dream of thru-hiking the whole of the PCT.. BUT, since you’re in Oregon, I might downsize the dream to hiking part of the PCT that crosses your state ! 😉
It’d be quite a fun adventure to document on both our blogs if we were to share it together… I keep it in mind, no worries 😉
Miss you heaps too, it was good to read about you, though.

Hi Diana! Not sure which photo you are talking about! We went to Crested Butte for a week and stopped in Moab along the way. We have found some great places to camp. Squeezing in one more trip tomorrow night. You’ve had some great adventures lately!!

Oh okay, it must have been one of the Moab photos (river flowing through a red rock canyon). Either way, what a great summer!!

Yes! The Moab pic. Happened to catch that sweet sunset driving down through the canyon. I love Moab so much. I’d like to go for a week some time.

I always marvel at how much you manage to cram into your life! I know I’m a mover and doer myself, but I can’t touch your level! What’s great is that you were able to stay put in your new home and still have so many adventures. I’m looking for some of that stability + fun combo in the next year or so!
