Oh boy, I am behind the 8 ball on the Lens-Artists challenges! BOO.
Amy over at The World is a Book is challenging us share our walking or hiking experiences. Thank goodness, as this topic is near and dear to my heart. Hiking is one of my all-time favorite activities so it wasn’t too difficult to dig up a few favorites.
This summer, I discovered one of the most beautiful hikes in Colorado (at least in my opinion). We are headed back to this trail when all of those lovely Aspen trees in the image below will be transitioning to their fall colors.
Dear mountains, I think about you all the time. ~Unknown~

Thankfully, the mountains of Colorado have seen a bunch of rain this year – at least in many places – we still have drought-stricken areas. Because of all the rain in Crested Butte, the wildflowers were INSANE.
Too much fresh air is not a thing. ~Unknown~

I had to throw in some wintery images because winter is just around the corner. Not sure how I feel about that at the moment. I mean, summer lasted all of a nano-second. Last year, we drove down to Colorado Springs for a nice weekend escape. The image below is from the Garden of the Gods. It is one of my favorite places in Colorado – when it snows in particular. I have a thing for snow-covered red rocks.
You are never too old to play outside. ~unknown~

There have been MANY epic adventures over the years. I’m looking forward to getting back to this space when the world settles down again (I could be waiting for a LONG time). The image below was taken in Iceland on the world famous Laugavegur Trail. The scenery on this trek is unbelievable. Sadly, we got stuck in some snow and sleet (IN AUGUST) on our 4 day trek so we missed out on a day or so of views. The harshness of the weather, just made for a better story. When the clouds cleared out – holy moly it was a stunnah.
Life is better in hiking boots. ~unknown~
Feeling grateful to live in the great state of Colorado. For the past 20 years, it’s been a magical place to explore on foot. We have an American holiday coming soon – I plan to lace up my shoes and hit some new trails.
Happy hiking all!
…i choose this…
Pam
W.O.W. just wow… Awesome shots of your favorite Colorado. It’s my favorite state too.
You captured the majesty of Rocky M. The Garden of the Gods covering with snow is my favorite. A great image of Iceland!

Thanks for the feedback Amy!! Snow on the rocks is really hard to capture. I must have taken 25 and this was my favorite one.

Beautiful shots. I was stationed in Iceland once. Didn’t do much hiking, but I did manage to go on a pony trek through some spectacular country.
Hiking on Labor Day? I hope the trails aren’t too crowded. The middle of a non-holiday week is my favorite time to hike.

Ohhh, a pony trek would be amazing. Yeah, we are staying home this weekend because of the crowds. I should be able to find some local stuff to explore. Driving to the mountains on holidays these days is just not worth it.

Ohhh to be walking with you as you romp through the wildflowers. Kind of looks like a scene in the Sound of Music. Great choices. I love that you used different seasons. I think one thing that makes hiking so nice is you can return to the same places and they are completely different. Donna

Right??? The thought did cross my mind about the SOM while I was traipsing around up there. LOL. Thanks Donna!

Great minds think alike! I have been guilty of singing in a few spots myself, much to my husbands embarrassment. But who gonna hear? Have a good rest of your week. Happy wandering.

Terrific post Pam. You’re so right about the hiking in Colorado. Every time I visit my brother out there we end up on some trail or other, each one more beautiful than the last. He’s a fly-fisherman so his wife and I often hike while he and my husband fish. It’s a perfect world for both activities. We’ve been to Garden of the Gods more than once – last time we actually played a golf course nearby where all of the tees were marked with metal camel-like creatures. Great fun playing among that scenery for sure! Enjoy the hikes this weekend – hope your summer lasts at least a few weeks longer LOL!

ohhh, which course did you play? Lots of fun courses also. As far as summer goes, I sure do wish it lasted just a tad bit longer, though I have to say, the fall is pretty amazing.

We’re just finishing a housesit on the south coast of England in Hove near Brighton. Been here all summer looking after a couple of lovely little cats.

Well thanks Linda!! I honestly should have been a forest ranger. Working from my home office today and all I can think about is being outside. #pickedwrongprofession

Beautiful photos. That rocky mountain ( 😉 ) in the distance looks like one we passed close to taking Kebler Pass road from Crested to Paonia last June. We did Cottonwood from Buenie to Crested, then Kebler a few days later. LOADED with aspens. Definitely worth an autumn trip.

Ohhh, I do love that drive John! It’s been a long while since I have done that. We are headed back to CB at the end of the month to do some leaf peeping on this trail, which you are correct, is off of Kebler pass. So pumped. 🙌

Pam, your photos are so beautiful. I lived in Colorado Springs for three years, and loved almost every second. I hated driving in the snow. Most people didn’t have a clue how to do it. Your photos brought back fond memories. 🙂

Hi Pam
You are likely hiking as I write this comment!
And hope your Labor Day went well!
The Iceland photo was amazing – and I have been to garden of gods a few times but never saw it in winter so that cool photo – with the man and dog – was a custom shot that really showed us the variety of seasons in this post!
Cheers to walking and hiking 🥾

Thanks for your advice on this blog. A single thing I wish to say is purchasing consumer electronics items over the Internet is certainly not new. In fact, in the past decade alone, the market for online electronics has grown substantially. Today, you’ll find practically any kind of electronic unit and gizmo on the Internet, which include cameras along with camcorders to computer parts and games consoles.
