Breweries We Miss in Boulder, Colorado

Lyssy over at Lyssy in the City inspired me to think about what Sean and I look forward to after this nasty quarantine is over! We are focused on BEER in this post, but also plan to post about FOOD later.

Ok, Coloradans love their beer – so much so – we have roughly 400 breweries in the state. That’s a LOT of beer drinking.

I’m not sure about you all, but we have been missing the heck out of our local breweries/cider houses in the hood and can’t wait to visit them all in person, VERY soon. We hope.

The weather is heating up which means some epic days outside recreating. Not much beats a cold brew after a hard day on the trail or on a bike.

I found this quote from (Babe) Abraham Lincoln fitting for the current times:

“I am a firm believer in the people. If given the truth, they can be depended upon to meet any national crisis. The great point is to bring them the real facts, and beer.”

Here’s our list of local favorites pulled from instagram. If you find yourself in North Denver, give them a go – it’s worth the drive!!

Technically not in the Boulder area, but this is my all time favorite IPA. HAD to include it!

There are so many more we could have added to the list, but the post would have become unwieldy.

  1. Unfortunately, I was ruined as a child. I remember growing up in the deep south on Old Milwaukee, Pabst Blue Ribbon and Budweiser. An ice cold Budweiser is still my brew of choice. Most of my friends here in the northeast really enjoy watching me order a Bud when we all go out to the white table cloth restaurants here – if they even have it! 🙂

      1. Oh boy, this was a tough one to answer. We’ve enjoyed most places we’ve been, but in 2018 and 2019 we had either the PubPass or Pint Passport, both of which are good for 1 free pint at each place. So we haven’t tried many beers at most places.

        But after talking it over with Pat, here’s what we came up with:
        -Someplace Else in Arvada
        -Breck Brewery (their vanilla porter is one of our all time favorites!)
        -Peakview in Greenwood Village
        -Prost in downtown Denver
        -the blood orange kolsch from Crystal Springs in Louisville is one of our favorites

        And if you ever find yourself in Saratoga Wyoming (you never know 🤷‍♀️), I had one of the best samplers of my life at their local brewery!

  11. Welcome to my world! I dream of British real ale all the time, but only manage to get it when I hop back over to good old Blighty! So, if you like, I’m always in lockdown (from decent beer) while I’m in Switzerland. Like almost everything in life, there’s rough with the smooth… Take care and don’t go too mad when you get the opportunity… 🍻Cheers!

    1. yeah, I don’t remember having great beer in Switzerland. haha. We did find a nice White wine. I agree – life always has its ups and downs – it’s all in how you deal with them. You take care as well!!

  13. My brother lives in Evergreen but formerly in Denver so we’ve visited a few but sadly I don’t drink beer ever since an unforgettable date in college. I had my first beer (ok more than 1) and upchucked all over my date. I was a freshman, he was a senior. I nearly died of embarrassment and haven’t had one since!!!

  15. Although I don’t drink at all, I would love to visit Colorado for their beautiful mountain views. They surely are some of the best I’ve seen. I’m looking forward traveling the most, hopefully soon. Stay safe 😊 Aiva

  19. You have the best looking breweries in Boulder, and so many of them. They all look great and well worth an evening out in. Hopefully it won’t be too long until the world is open again and you will be able to get out to a few breweries again.

    1. oh yeah, they are all pretty nice. Some are plain warehouses, but great beer. We are SLOWLY opening up Colorado right now. One day at a time, but we hope by mid June, we will have the opportunity! We’ll see, I am not getting my hopes up for sure.

  23. Oh this is just plain cruel. All we can get at the moment is Bud Light so seeing these beer possibilities, presented in perfect photos is mean, I tell ‘ya. Would that I could enjoy one of those beers now. *le sigh*

  24. Oh man!! Now I want some beer! Virginia tried to follow in the footsteps of Colorado and we have over 200 craft breweries in the state. Quite a few nearby. Cheers to beer! Stay safe and healthy, Pam!!

  25. Ha, we are missing our local breweries here in Oregon as well! (Not the beer however; we made sure that we were well stocked. :)) I am running low on IPA, however! I may get desperate. Thanks for making me want a beer at 11: 40 in the morning. Grin. –Curt

        1. We are heading to Bend next week to scope out a neighborhood to buy a rental. At some point we’ll move into it. We are selling a rental here in Colorado and need a replacement. Oregon is our future retirement home. We love Oregon!

          1. That’s great, Pam. And, what’s more— as I am sure you are aware— Bend is noted for it breweries! I’ll be doing 2-3 posts on the Three Sister’s Wilderness which is up above Bend in the Cascades in a couple of weeks. Be sure to check it out. Lots of fun photos! –Curt
