Many people in the world are currently fearful of the spread of the Coronavirus – I get it. Traveling to Texas every week for work certainly makes me think about it, but I’m not overly stressed yet. I am definitely watching the spread of the virus and trying to sift through all of the media articles to understand it better. I thought I’d bring a little levity to the situation and share a couple of funny memes floating around out there. Both of them made me laugh out loud.
Being an introvert, this is my favorite! IF ONLY. haha.
As a teenager in Texas in the 80’s, Ernest and Julio Gallo’s Boons Farm “wines” were the bomb. We used to drink them and then head to Six Flags (an amusement park) – why? Who knows. Dumb teenagers – lol. I use the term wine loosely as they were apple based and REALLY sweet. Someone on Facebook said, “If this didn’t kill us -nothing will!” They were also super cheap and I’m convinced adults felt less guilty about buying this stuff for minors. Not sure if this was distributed outside the US but I am sure there was an equivalent! These guys started their business in 1933 by learning to make wine from reading old, pre-Prohibition pamphlets. Super interesting story. Anyhoo…
Find humor in the scary, then it might not be so scary ;-). (deep I know)
…i choose this….

In high school, 15/16 years old, I had my brother’s expired license (paper, no picture yet) and I went to Jumbo grocery store to buy 6 or 8 bottles of BF Strawberry Hill. My friends and I chugged down the bottles before going to high school sporting events. It’s nice to know my crappy taste in booze will now save my life 40 years later.

You consider yourself an introvert? I wouldn’t have guessed… really!
Anyway, this particular pun was very funny!
Although I can’t relate to the second one, I can completely understand why it’d be funny too.
You’re right in bringing a bit of fun in the midst of such (un)necessary fear-spreading… Not saying we shouldn’t protect ourselves but over-reacting is a tat too much.
Hope everyone stays safe.
Take care,

The most hilarious part of this was the “Facebook Medical” reference. I swear a huge swath of our population actually gets their news from Facebook (and believes they have a Medical Dept. – haha). While the virus and all things that kill some people are not inherently funny, we have to laugh at these situations that take on a whole life of their own sometimes. Believe it or not, I never drank Boone’s Farm!

True story, a recent survey of about 740 beer drinkers in the United States shows that 38% of them said they “would not buy Corona [beer] under any circumstances now.” Their fears are linked to the coronavirus.
On a more serious note we’d planned a road trip from Pittsburgh to Kansas City in July visiting 7 ballparks over 3 weeks. I was already to start booking until this all went down.

The same people who probably don’t know where the state of California is. Jeez. Yeah, that’s a tough one. Though You made me think it might be a good time to visit a Disney Park. 🤣

Boone’s Farm wine was vile, so I hope that it turns out to be the one thing that keeps some of us healthy.
I saw a tweet in which someone said that if we all are quarantined inside our homes for a month, the only people who’ll survive are freelance writers who are living like that already. Kind of hope that applies to bloggers, too.

It was vile! Now they make it with Malt, so it’s even more disgusting. I just got an email from our risk manager, stating essentially we have the option not to travel. Hmmm. That’s tempting. I’ll probably still risk it for a while. 🤞

I think the media is having field day with this. And then Facebook is becoming a fabulous platform to poke fun at our over-reaction. I am embarrassed to be Australian as the public stampedes the supermarkets buying up trolley loads of toilet paper!! As far as I know ‘the runs’ is not a side effect of Corona virus!! Ridiculous!

I know! Why is it that human brains go “Pandemic? Must stock up on toilet paper”?? The sad thing is is that our household is down to its last roll!! 🙂

Great post. There are so many graduates of the Boones Farm School of higher learning! Now we are all wine connoisseurs! The corona beer drinkers are probably going to switch to Boones Farm. No taste!

You made my day! I was walking around downtown San Francisco yesterday and everything seemed normal, such as the piles of human feces that are a regular feature on sidewalks! 🙀 Everyone was going about their business and nothing looked different to me since my last visit!
I love humor in a time of uncertainty- thanks for giving that to us!

Today someone at work asked me, “Are you starting to rethink your spring break trip to Sedona (due to the exposure to strangers at the airport and on the airplane)?” The answer is no, but I will admit I’ve thought about it. It’s reassuring to hear you travel by plane every week.

Great article! Awareness is the necessity of today’s situation. People have so many theories in mind and it all leads them to fear.
I have done some research and added popular rumors and theories in my article that will allow readers to know the facts of the matter and it will also help people to learn how they can protect themselves.
I have taken information from trusted and direct resources like WHO and CDC

In Ireland they are planning to cancel St.Patrick’s Day celebrations and many people are starting to buy extra supplies in case the shops close. It’s mad! Nearly 30 thousand people die every year of cancer and nearly as many die of heart disease. People just need to take a deep breath and wash hands! Being an introvert, I find staying at home the best advice 😂😂

Thank you for this great post, I thoroughly valued reading it. I have been very disappointed with the media’s coverage of the Coronavirus outbreak so I have recently published an article on my blog about what we should be worried about and how we can protect ourselves and others. If you have time, it would be great if you could check out my post and let me know your thoughts! Thanks 🙂

The first time I ever drank wine (or any alcohol) was with 2 friends. We drank a bottle of Boone’s Farm given to us by an older brother, then went to a dance. Whew! What a memory! I am slightly nervous about our upcoming trip to Morocco. Not that I am scared of catching the virus, I am scared about travel restrictions.

I can see why. But don’t sweat it too much. Maybe the world will be a little smarter about the virus. I talked to a doctor last week. He said many people who have had it in Colorado have not been severely symptomatic. I am going to be looking for travel deals in the coming weeks!!

A pair of fuzzy dice hanging from the mirror of a vehicle is exactly the image I had in mind!
That’s funny you’ve mentioned that.
When I was a kid I listened to Weird Al’ Yankovic, in one of his songs he stops randomly and says “fuzzy dice”.
For or whatever reason, I loved that moment! Started saying it for comedic effect with a similar playful tone. Then made it a username (:
